This kind of turmeric, Sangli received its Geographical Indication Tag (GI Tag) in 2018 because of its unique characteristics.   It is supposedly known to have great medicinal properties and accounts for nearly 70% of the state’s total production of turmeric.  Sangli turmeric has a deep-orange colour and is known for its advanced yet natural medicinal purposes.
